The Home joins other organizations in raising awareness about child abuse and neglect by encouraging individuals and communities to support children and families. Since the 1980s, millions of people across the country have participated in National Child Abuse Prevention Month activities including the Blue Ribbon Campaign by wearing and distributing blue ribbons, organizing community activities, and showing support for organizations like The Home that help keep kids safe and families together. Many of the 37,000 children confirmed as being abused or neglected in Massachusetts each year are referred to The Home after they have been placed into the custody of the Department of Children and Families. It then becomes our job to try to mitigate the impact of this often unspeakable trauma and give those children the best possible shot at a happy and productive life.
