Toastmaster Testimonial!

As the sitting 2009-2010 District 31 Governor leading 3,500 Toastmaster members in Eastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island I have many duties and responsibilities. In addition to leading District 31 I have many volunteers that assist with our District goals, deadlines, ect. It is always great to hear from them and tonight is one of those times!

Ah, ya see, it;s emails like the one I just got from my Area G1 Governor, Pranav that read in the subject line: "You are the best District Governor" and when I opend it the words "YOU ROCK" with a song!

Made me smile! Thank you Pranav

Madame District 31 Governor, Sher

Erin Go Bragh! Ireland Forever!

"May the sun always shine on your windowpane May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain May the hand of a friend always be near you May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you".

Enjoy this Irish holiday! Proud to be of Irish decent and someday I hope to go over to the "old country" with Sabrina to visit where my ancestors, the Raftery Clan from May/Sligo.
Happy St. Patrick's Day and Erin Go Bragh - Ireland Forever!

For the horse named Erin Go Bragh, see Hideaway's Erin Go Bragh.

A common stylisation of Erin Go Bragh, in a pseudo-Gaelic font.

Erin Go Bragh (sometimes Erin Go Braugh) is the Anglicisation of a Gaelic phrase used to express allegiance to Ireland. It is most often translated as "Ireland Forever"[1] and pronounced /ˌɛrɪn ɡə ˈbrɔː/.
Speakers of the Irish language assume that the phrase is a corruption of the Irish Éire go Brách or Éireann go Brách, which would be pronounced [ˈeːrʲə ɡə brɑːx].
The term brách is equivalent to "eternity" or "end of time", meaning the phrase may be translated literally as "Ireland until eternity" or "Ireland until the end (of time)". The form Éireann go Bráth or Éire go Bráth is also used in Irish and means the same thing.

The standardized spelling in modern Irish is Éire go Brách; however, Éirinn (which survives as the dative form in the modern standard) is the form historically used by native speakers and is the source of the Anglicized Erin. This linguistic shift (dative forms replacing nominative) was common among Irish nouns of the fifth declension.[2]

Other recent derivative spellings include Érin go Brea. This is sometimes translated as "Ireland the beautiful" - based on a loose translation of "go breá" as "is beautiful". However, this derivation and translation are not supported in the phrase's use as a war cry, nor in the language (in Irish, the "go" preposition, meaning "until" when following a dative OR nominative noun, does not readily lend itself to this translation).
